DELSU-Tension as NUC withdraws accreditation

Apprehension has gripped students of Delta State University, Oleh campus, following the withdrawal of the accreditation of the institution’s Faculty of Law.

Students of Delta State University, Oleh campus, are currently worried as the Nigeria University Commission, NUC, has withdrawn the accreditation of the institution’s Faculty of Law.

Vanguard reports that part of what makes the students apprehensive is the fact that the other faculty in the campus, Faculty of Engineering, lost its accreditation four years ago. A lot of people now worry that the campus will soon be shut down.

President of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, LAWSAN, at the campus, Mr. Desmond Orisewezie has appealed to the government to work towards bringing back accreditation for those two faculties

Djebah said that the conditions given by the accreditation team of NUC which he said include the provision of computers for the faculty’s e-library, upgrading of books, provision of air conditioners for the library, the completion and furnishing of the lecture and the moot court, could be achieved with proper commitment from the government and the cooperation of the school authority.
