A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced a lady, Clara Onah, 35, to seven years imprisonment over sale of fake drugs.
She is a graduate of Microbiology of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a postgraduate student of Mass Communication, she was prosecuted by the National Agency for Food and Drugs, Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on a five-count charge of possession and sale of fake drugs.
In his judgment, Justice Chuka Obiozor said: “I will give you a second chance as a first offender, but those who took your drugs and died have no second chance.” The prosecutor, Mr. Shamaki Umar, had told the court that the accused sold fake brand of 200mg of Amazon Amagyl Metronidazole tablets to members of the public.
