Why Senate May Order Arrest Of Ex-EFCC Boss, Lamorde

The alleged imminent arrest of the ex-EFCC czar is not unconnected with his snubbing of several invitations by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions which is investigating him over a petition submitted by one George Uboh, accusing him of misappropriating the sum of N1 trillion recovered from corrupt individuals by the EFCC under his reign.

In a chat with newsmen in Abuja, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu said it was the prerogative of the Senate to issue a warrant of arrest for Lamorde or not.

He stated that in the course of its investigation, the committee had invited Lamorde to physically present himself before it on at least three occasions which he failed to honour.

While stating that he was unaware of any court injunction stopping the committee from investigating Lamorde, Anyanwu said it would submit its interim report to the Senate for the next line of action.
