Aliko Dangote is Africa’s richest man.
Surprisingly, he is said to hate wasteful spending.
Dangote’s net worth is about $18.3 billion (2015 Forbes), and he is said to still haggles prices when he feels it is too high for his budget; an act which many think even the averagely rich Nigerian will not do lol. Dangote owns a private jet, a yacht as well as choice properties in Ikoyi, and Victoria Island, exclusive playgrounds of ultra-wealthy Nigerians in Lagos.

During a Reuters’ interview with the billionaire’s longtime friend, Bismarck Rewane, CEO of consultancy firm Financial Derivatives, he recounted how his friend (Dangote) showed he hates wasteful spending. They had a business dinner at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island. According to Rewane, when he and the billionaire businessman left in Dangote’s black Mercedes, the hotel staff had charged 5,000 Naira for parking, which was in excess, but nothing for a man of Dangote’s wealth.

Rewane said when Dangote got a hint of the rip-off, Dangote beat it down to 1,000 Naira. Rewane said: “He(Dangote) spent a good few minutes doing it. I said to him: ‘let’s just go. Our time is more valuable than a few thousand naira. But he wouldn’t let it go. He smiled afterward. He was so happy he’d got a good deal.”

And some people will be doing class with wasteful spending! which is so absurd
