FOILED: Police Avert Robbery Operation In Delta

Police detectives in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have foiled robbery operation in the area at the weekend.

It was reliably gathered that a five- man gang robbery suspects allegedly swooped on unsuspecting traders who were transporting their goods to a nearby community, but luck ran out of them when the police acted on a tip-off, moved into the scene and engaged them in a gun battle. It was learnt that the hoodlums could not withstand the superior power of the police detectives, and took to their heels, abandoning their victims.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations in the State, Mrs. Celestina Kalu said the police detectives learnt of the robbery operations as the criminals were robbing the traders transporting their goods to neighbouring village at gun point along Alaska road Ozoro and immediately mobilized to the scene.

She said that the hoodlums, on seeing the police, engaged them in a gun battle but because the superior power of the police, they were forced to abandon their mission and escape on their operational motorcycles.

Kalu said, “The robbery suspect in haste escaped and abandoned one locally made single barrel gun with some fetish materials,” adding that investigation was in progress with a view to bringing them to book.
