According to (UNDP)

“Honestly, in the beginning when we raised the issue and asked for funding, we did not think it was possible. But, as they say, little strokes fell great oaks. After some discussions, we managed to persuade local authorities,” says Kasymaly Kalambekov, resident of the remote village of Zardaly in Batken province.

Thanks to efforts of a local parliament member Akyl Dilshatov, for the first time in its history, this tiny Kyrgyz village now has a connection with the outside world through a satellite phone.

Zardaly is located high in the mountains, close to the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border.

It is home to about 150 people, who live without electricity, communication, or any other advantages of modern civilization. There are no public institutions in the village except for a primary school built in 2010.

“To see a doctor, send news, or stock up on food, local people have to go down to villages located lower in the valley,” Akyl Dilshatov explains. “It takes a lot of time. And in the fall and winter periods, the road is blocked with snow, so we get fully isolated from the outside world.”

This is really Serious hmmmm...
